- Full-surface cleanliness inspection prior to contamination-sensitive processes
such as bonding, coating, welding, hardening, and wire bonding, for the evaluation and visualisation of filmic contaminants including oils, greases, metalworking fluids or release agents - Reliable evaluation of complex and large-area components
through high-resolution imaging of the complete inspection surface - Targeted analysis of critical functional areas
such as sealing, bonding or contact surfaces through flexible evaluation of defined regions within the overall image - Monitoring and optimisation of cleaning processes
by comparing full-surface contamination conditions and identifying non-uniform cleaning results - Quality assurance for sensitive industries
such as electronics manufacturing, medical technology or vacuum technology through detailed, fully documentable surface imaging and objective assessment of measured values and their statistical distribution for objective assessment of part cleanliness
The measurement method is based on the fluorescence properties of organic film-like contaminants such as oils, greases, metalworking fluids, or release agents. The component surface is illuminated uniformly with UV light, causing the contamination to fluoresce. The intensity of the fluorescence increases with the layer thickness of the contamination.
A highly sensitive camera captures the fluorescence with spatial resolution across the entire inspection surface. From the image data, normalised measurement values in RFU (Relative Fluorescence Units) are calculated based on SITA fluorescence standards. This creates not just a single measurement value, but a fluorescence image with quantitative information about the distribution of contamination.
The lower the RFU value, the cleaner the surface. Measurement values can be evaluated for the entire surface or specifically for selected areas and functional surfaces, compared with limit values, and documented.

The PC software for the SITA FluoSpection Qube controls the entire inspection process, from component acquisition and fluorescence measurement to evaluation and documentation. It guides the user through the testing procedure and makes the complex imaging fluorescence measurement technology easy to use.
- PC based control of measurement and image acquisition
- Guided inspection workflow with white-light and fluorescence imaging
- Normalized visualisation of fluorescence distribution in RFU (Relative Fluorescence Unit)
- Simultaneous display of the component image and fluorescence image
- Evaluation of the entire surface as well as freely definable sub-areas and functional areas
- Limit-value verification for measurement areas and functional zones
- Comparison of measurements, components or cleanliness conditions, for example before and after cleaning
- Assistance with image alignment and assignment
- Documentation of measurement results in inspection reports
The software will be continuously expanded with additional automated analysis and classification functions. These will include, in particular, the evaluation of pass/fail reference patterns, the analysis of the location and distribution of contaminants as well as AI-assisted methods for supporting limit-value assessments, cleanliness evaluations and specification compliance checks. These enhancements are intended to help users assess complex cleanliness requirements more easily, consistently and transparently.
By combining intuitive imaging with quantitative measurement data, the software provides a comprehensive foundation for quality assurance, process optimisation and documented cleanliness control.
